SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region works to ensure that it remains a land of coexistence and peace for everyone, said President Nechirvan Barzani on Sunday.
On the occasion of International Day of Living Together in Peace, Barzani reiterated the Region’s unwavering support to coexistence and peace in the world.
“We call for peaceful solution to crises and tensions everywhere,” Barzani said in a tweet. “We work to make sure Kurdistan remains a land of coexistence, harmony and peace forever.”
Kurdish authorities have reiterated the Region’s guiding principle of preserving and solidifying the rich culture of peaceful coexistence, mutual recognition and tolerance among all communities, faiths and ethnic groups in the Kurdistan Region.
Officials have stressed that the Kurdistan Region will remain a cradle of peace and harmony for all groups, including Turkmen, Christians, Yazidis, Kakayees, Armenians, Shabaks, Arabs, and other components of the Region.
The United Nations declared 16 May the International Day of Living Together in Peace, as a means of regularly mobilizing the efforts of the international community to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding and solidarity.
