Eight people killed in explosion in Sinjar: mayor

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Eight people were killed after a bomb was exploded in Sinjar town on Sunday, according to mayor Mahma Khalil.

The mayor told Esta Media Network that the explosion occurred after an Iraqi bomb disposal unit was working to defuse the bomb.

Seven members of the team belonging to the Iraqi security forces and a civilian were killed in the explosion, he added.

Iraqi ministry of defense said in a statement that commander Haider Adil Mohammed was killed in a blast in north of Tal Afar.

The improvised explosive device (IED) was left by Islamic State (ISIS) militants in the area.
