Kurdistan Islamic Movement holds its congress amidst internal division

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Islamic Movement (KIM) is preparing to hold its “foundational” Congress in Sulaimani on Saturday.

The Party’s leader, Irfan Ali Abdulaziz, has shared that approximately 2,000 individuals will be participating in this significant event, and the list of attendees has already been carefully prepared.

However, it is important to note that the movement’s congress is taking place amidst internal divisions and a power struggle between Abdulaziz and another prominent figure within the movement, Kameel Haji Ali.

Both sides have garnered significant support from their respective followers, further intensifying the situation.

*The third paragraph of this story has been corrected, the power struggle is between Irfan Ali Abdulaziz and Kameel Haji Ali.
