SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Late Sunday night Turkey’s warplanes bombed targets in Duhok’s Chamanke district, Kurdistan Region.
The attack left one killed and seriously injured another. The deceased was reportedly a civilian.
Last night’s bombing caused panic and fear among locals in the area as the attack mirrored similar in recent days which has witnessed an escalation.
Turkey intermittently conducts air strikes against targets it says belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Region’s Duhok province.
The PKK launched an insurgency against the Turkish state in 1984 and more than 40,000 people have been killed in the ensuing conflict. The PKK is regarded as a “terrorist” group by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.
