SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A delegation from the security and defense committee of the Iraqi parliament on Monday made a visit to the city of Sulaimani to initiate investigations into last Friday’s drone attack.
A drone strike targeted the periphery of Sulaimani International Airport on Monday but caused neither casualties nor material damages.
The Iraqi parliament delegation paid a visit to the targeted site at the airport early today, initiating probes into the incident, Esta Media Network has learned.
The First deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Muhsin Al-Mandalawi earlier stated that they will form a committee to submit an urgent report regarding the incident to protect Iraq’s sovereignty against any assaults.
Last Saturday, a high-ranking Iraqi security delegation under the direction of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani visited the same site in Sulaimani, aimed at probing the incident.
The delegation was led by National Security Advisor Qassim al-Araaji, National Security Agency Chief Hamid al-Shatri, Counter-Terrorism Agency Chief Abdul Wahab al-Saadi, and Deputy Commander of Joint Operations Brigadier Qais al-Muhamadawi.
