There is no decision on PUK’s return to government sessions: official

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister press sectary Samir Hawrami on Monday reaffirmed to Esta Media Network that there is no decision to return to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)’s sessions.

Hawrami in a statement to Esta stated there is no development regarding the ministerial team of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) to return to the KRG’s Council of Ministers sessions.

He further explained that the Ministries which the PUK holds have not been vacated but rather the PUK’s ministers are already on duty for the sake of serving the citizens.

Months have passed since the PUK’s decision to boycott the KRG’s Council of Ministers sessions over disagreements with the rival Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

The PUK and KDP have been at loggerheads over KRG’s revenue distribution, the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, and amendments to the election law.

Since then, Qubad Talabani, the Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister and a senior member of the PUK, has also stopped attending the meetings of the Council of Ministers.
