SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Commander-in-Chief of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, refuted claims regarding the infiltrating of information about his presence in Sulaimani last Friday.

The SDF press center on Saturday announced that Commander Mazloum Abdi has been targeted by a drone strike while he was on a visit to the Kurdistan Region’s Sulaimani International Airport to meet with his Kurdish counterparts and the Global Coalition forces.

Rumors circulated that information was allegedly infiltrated among his Kurdish counterparts, Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism units (CTG), in the Kurdish city of Sulaimani about his location and presence time to be targeted at the airport.

However, the SDF’s commander via tweeter on Sunday stated that “We want to clarify the fact that the Counter-Terrorism Forces (CTG) were with us at Sulaimani Airport on the day of the drone attack.”

“We will never forget the devotion and support of the Counter-Terrorism Forces (CTG) during the difficult days of Rojava’s struggle,” he said in the tweet.

“All the accusations made against this struggling force [CTG] are aimed to mislead the public and distort the facts,” he added.
