Rocket Strucks Turkish military base in Duhok: reporter

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish military base in Bamarne sub-district, Duhok province struck by rockets late on Wednesday, no casualties were reported, said Esta’s reporter.

The location where the rockets were fired has not been spotted yet, according to the reporter.

“At least one rocket hit a military watchtower inside the base,” he said.

This is a second rocket attack that targeted spots inside the Kurdistan Region territory on Wednesday. Earlier, Khor Mor natural gas field run by Dana Gas, a private sector natural gas company came under attack. In Qadirkaram town south of Chamchamal, Sulaimani Province. The Mayor of the town told Esta Media Network in a statement.

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan affiliated Counter Terrorism Group (CTG) confirmed the incident in a statement, saying “a Katyusha [rocket] was fired from unidentified place towards Khor Mor field.”

Investigations are launched, and soon the results will be released to the Kurdistan Region people, CTG said in the statement on Khor Mor rocket attack.

No group claimed responsibility for either Wednesday attacks.

Rocket and drone attacks have become more frequent in recent months.

Many armed groups are operating in Iraq, including Kurdistan Region. They usually target the bases that host foreigners.
