SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) seized a tremendous amount of narcotic drugs on Sunday in Sulaimani’s Raparin district, a senior CTG member announced.

Amid a press conference, CTG’s chief for Raparin district Hemn Salam told the reporters that their forces have seized as many as 85 kilograms of narcotic drugs.

“After launching a deep probe our forces were able to seize a truck, transferring 85 kilograms of Crystal meth in the Raparin district,” Salam said.

During the operation, three members of a narcotic band were detained, and Salam voiced confidence that they will continue their duty to execute the law and assured the people.

Kurdish officials have warned that drug trafficking threatens to become an epidemic if anti-narcotics forces fail to curtail its rise in the Kurdistan Region.
