Kurdistan Region population surpassed six million last year: spox

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The General Directorate of Nationality & Regional Civil Status on Monday revealed that the Kurdistan Region’s population surpassed six million.

The spokesman of the directorate, Kaifi Omar, said, “The Region’s population reached 6, 103, 274 people during last year,” he said in a press conference.

He also pointed out that Sulaimani has the greatest share of the population across the Region, numbering 2,226,523.

“Population in Duhok reached 1, 444, 427,” he added.

Speaking about the Kurdistan Region capital, Erbil, the population stood at 2, 225, 534 people during the year, holding the second rank after Sulaimani for population share
