Sulaimani Security forces detain suspect over murdering senior PKK member

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Sulaimani security forces (Asayish) on Tuesday announced that they detained a suspect over murdering a senior PKK member in Sulaimani downtown on the same day.

Around mourning of Tuesday Nagahan Akarsal, a senior member of the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) was shot dead in the Baxtiyari neighborhood, police said.

45-year-old Akarsal, code-named Zilan was shot dead by a suspect, who fired 11 bullets at the victim, according to police.

In a statement seen by Esta Media Network Asayish announced that they detained a suspect for murdering Akarsal.

Asayish also said shortly after the incident in coordination with security forces in Erbil they detained the suspect after they opened a deep probe.

The suspect is currently being held in prison and waiting to face prosecution, according to the statement.
