SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani received Elbrus Kutrashev, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq on Tuesday in Erbil.
PUK President Bafel Talabani received Ambassador Kutrashev at the party headquarter in Erbil, a press release said.
In a meeting attended by Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, the administrator of the PUK politburo from Talabani’s side, the latest developments, and political changes were discussed, the press release said.
It was also focused on passing Iraq’s deadlock situation, and President Talabani was optimistic in this regard by telling the Ambassador concerning the Kurdistan Region, that “Fortunately, a suitable ground for talks and understanding have been generated.”
“I hope that all of us make a compromise for the sake of the nation and the Kurdistan Region entity with responsible national spirit. We must head to Baghdad as one united team with national discourse to advocate and protect our constitutional rights,” Talabani said.
Talabani also voiced optimism about Iraq’s political situation and efforts to reach a “Cheerful result”.
“Everyone knows PUK’s stance and from the very beginning we were explicitly announced that discussion and compromise are the basis to resolve the problems,” Talabani told Kutrashev.
“All of our efforts are for gathering and bringing the different voices together for building the country’s stability and constructing a brighter future,” Talabani added.
