SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A former director has been detained over corruption in Duhok, Esta Media Network reporter said on Monday.

Esta’s reporter in Duhok said Nzar Bamarni, former director of migration and displacement in the ministry of interior, had been in custody in Duhok for around a month.

“He’s held at Duhok adult reform prison now,” the reporter added.

The former official was accused of involvement in corruption including “making contracts on the purchase of air conditioners for offices within the directorate and receiving the money without buying the air conditioners”.

Another charge against him is that he “received money from charity and humanitarian organizations to purchase generators for displacement camps but the generators were not provided to the camps,” a member of Duhok provincial council told Esta Media Network on condition of anonymity.
