SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Tuesday congratulated Muslims on the occasion of the Islamic New Year and the beginning of the holy month of Muharram.
In his message, the Deputy Prime Minster extended his warmest congratulations to the worldwide Muslims, wishing a happy and prosperous year.
“Congratulations to all Muslims on the occasion of the new Islamic year,” he said.
“This occasion feeds us with the strength to persist on changes and renewing, may this occasion always returns with happiness and prosperity,” he added.
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. It is one of the four sacred months of the year when warfare is forbidden. It is held to be the second holiest month after Ramadan, according to Islamic sources.
