SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkey has added another military point in Duhok’s Amedi, while continuing to bomb the Matin mountain range, according to Esta reporter on Friday.
Turkey has set up a new military point in Amedi district of Duhok province, the point stationed between Sargale and Sgere villages which Turkey regularly attacks, targeting suspected Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) positions.
“Turkey has resumed its attacks for several days, targeting Sagale and Sgere villages’ vicinity in the foothills of Matin mountain,” The reporter said.
Esta Media Network has learned that the Turkish army has established eight new military points in the different areas of Amedi district since announcing the Claw-Lock operation in the Kurdistan Region in April.
Turkey regularly launches air strikes into northern Iraq and has sent commandos to support its offensives. It announced the start of a new ground and air campaign in the Kurdistan Region in April, targeting PKK militants. Dubbed Operation Claw-Lock.
The PKK took up arms against the Turkish state in 1984, it was also designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union. More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict, which in the past was mainly focused in southeast Turkey.
