Asayish arrests two gangs, seizes ‘massive’ amount of narcotic drugs

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Local Security forces (Asayish) in the Raparin administration of Sulaimani province had arrested two narcotic gangs and seized a massive amount of illicit drugs, according to a statement on Tuesday.

Asayish in a statement revealed that it had arrested two narcotic gangs in two separate operations based on concrete information after obtaining the determined judge’s consent.

The first operation took place on Apr. 12 during which two suspects had been arrested in the Raparin region, and among whom one of them was Erbil-based, the statement said.

As many as 1000g of Heroin, 1500g of Opium, 500g of Marijuana, and 50g of Crystal Meth were seized during the first operation, Asayish added in the statement.

Further, the second operation took place on Apr. 19 in the same region, where Asayish seized 56g of Crystal Meth which had been concealed inside 17 glue cans.

The glue cans were prepared to be shipped outside of the Kurdistan Region, according to the statement.
