SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region’s Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed said on Tuesday the rate of crime has increased in the Kurdistan Region due to a lack of cooperation between the security services and judicial power.

The minister said the issues should not be resolved through “social sitting and outside the courts”.

“The rate of crime has risen in the Region and the reason of its increase is that the security services are not helped by the judicial power,” Ahmed said during a course on the detention of suspects at the general directorate police in Erbil.

“One of the reasons is that suspects are not tried with laws,” he added.

He called on the judicial council and the courts to further assist the security agencies in arresting suspects and to not release suspects “without bail”.

The Kurdish interior minister also called on the political parties and people to not “shelter suspects under any excuse”.
