Kurdistan Region warns of rising COVID-19 case numbers

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health warned of a surge in coronavirus cases in the Region, saying “predictions are dangerous”.

Spokesman of the Health Ministry Aso Hawezi said in a statement that the number of coronavirus infections in the Region had dramatically risen in the past 24 hours.

“The Predictions are dangerous and it requires the participation of all to alert civilians to protect themselves from this virus,” Hawezi added.

Minister Saman Barzinji met with the WHO representative regarding the situation of the novel coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region.

The Kurdistan Region had recorded more than 1,000 cases in the last three days.

The Region had recorded a total number of 64,823 cases as of Wednesday, of which 2,226 died and 38,561 recovered, according to the ministry of health.
