Four killed in car crash in Erbil province: traffic police

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Four people were killed in a traffic collision in Erbil province on Wednesday, traffic police said.

The directorate of traffic police in Koya said two vehicles collided near the village of Gomatal on the road between Koya and Erbil.

Two other person were wounded in the collision, it said in a statement.

The four that died were volleyball players, the traffic police added.

The directorate of traffic police in the Kurdistan Region said in November that it had recorded more than 3,500 traffic collisions in the past 10 months.

More than 470 people had died and over 5,380 others had been wounded in car crashes in the Region, according to official statistics.
