SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Police said on Wednesday a man was arrested in Sulaimani for opening fire randomly in the city.

The directorate of police said a person had opened fire randomly after he parked his vehicle in the middle of Salim street at 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police units “immediately arrived at the scene and were able to arrest the person,” it said in a statement.

“The vehicle and the gun were seized,” police added.

The suspect is in custody by a judge’s order and investigations into the incident has been launched, according to police.

Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani called on the security forces to preserve security and stability in the province, following a meeting with a group of traders in Sulaimani.
