Kurdistan Region’s coronavirus cases surpass 60,000: health ministry

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region’s coronavirus cases surged past 60,000 on Friday, the ministry of health said on Friday.

The Region’s ministry of health said in a statement that 932 more people had been infected with coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 60,183.

The ministry added that 275 new cases were in Erbil, 207 in Sulaimani, 32 in Garmian, 398 in Duhok and 20 in Halabja.

It further said 18 more patients had died from the virus, raising the death toll to 2,106. Five deaths were in Erbil, seven in Sulaimani, two in Raparin, three in Duhok and one in Halabja.

As many as 453 other patients had recovered from COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours, taking the total number to 36,728, according to the ministry of health.
