SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani delivered a message on Tuesday to commemorate the anniversary of the late President Mam Jalal’s passing.
In his message, Barzani highlighted the importance of unity and solidarity among the people of Kurdistan.
“Today, we commemorate the anniversary of the late President Mam Jalal’s passing. We honor and appreciate his tireless efforts in fighting for the freedom and rights of the Kurdistan and Iraqi people,” Barzani said.
“On this significant day, let us emphasize the importance of unity, understanding, solidarity, and resolving issues for the betterment of our society,” Barzani added. “It is crucial to protect the public interest, as it was President Mam Jalal’s ultimate goal and testament,” Barzani continued.
In conclusion, Barzani paid his respects to Mam Jalal, wishing his soul to rest in peace.
Mam Jalal Talabani, a true symbol of the Kurdish nation’s pride, was the first Iraqi Kurdish president and served as the Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
His deteriorating health conditions led to his transfer to Germany on December 17, 2012. He passed away on October 3, 2017, in Germany.
Mam Jalal left an indelible mark on the Kurdish nation, and his contributions to the Kurdish struggle for autonomy and self-determination continue to inspire generations.
His death in 2017 marked the end of an era in Kurdish politics, but his ideas and efforts live on in the ongoing pursuit of Kurdish rights and self-governance.
Each year, on October 3rd, the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and Kurdish communities around the world come together to remember and pay tribute to this remarkable statesman.
