PUK President reaffirms commitments to end ‘fabricated problems’ with rival KDP, wishes cooperation

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Wednesday reaffirmed his Party’s commitments to end the “fabricated problems” with the rival Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), wishing cooperation for the sake of the people. 

Talabani who is in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, received a senior KDP delegation led by Fadhil Mirani, his press office said in a statement.

They discussed the general situation of the Kurdistan Region and Erbil-Baghdad issues and stressed enduring dialogue between the parties to maintain the unity of the Kurdish house, according to the statement.

Discussions also included providing the Kurdistan Region’s financial entitlements, emphasizing protecting the rights of the Region’s civil servants.

They also agreed to safeguard the budget, as well as other entitlements of the Region on the foundation of the constitution.

In the meantime, the meeting witnessed an emphasis on maintaining the security and political and social stability of the Kurdistan Region.

They decided to make serious steps that aim to resolve the issues, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, PUK’s Talabani reaffirmed his party’s commitment to end the “fabricated problems” with the KDP.

“Enduring the constructive dialogue and joints work is the right path of doing politics,” Talabani said.

Talabani further wished to cooperate with the KDP for the sake of high goals and the people “far from imposing one side’s will and erasing the other side.”
