PUK President gifts distinguished honor award to CTG commanders

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Monday met with the General Director as well as several senior commanders of the Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG).

The meeting highlighted the forthcoming military and intelligence plans and strategies of the CTG to protect the Kurdistan Region, according to a statement released by Talabani’s office.

It also underscored commitments to combat terrorism in coordination with the Iraqi forces, including forces from the Global Coalition.

The statement added that they further laid emphasis on enduring anti-terror operations, as well as efforts to protect the region’s stability.

In the meantime, Talabani extended his words of gratitude to the CTG as the first responsive forces to combat terrorism and thwart plots to disrupt Kurdistan’s security.

“You have made a history of pride. Your activities to protect Kurdistan testify this fact,” Talabani told the CTG, according to the statement.

Talabani also reiterated they will further expand and strengthen the CTG force in collaboration with the Global Coalition to maintain Kurdistan’s security.

The meeting was concluded by gifting distinguished honor award to the CTG commanders by Talabani for the sacrifices that they have made for Kurdistan.
