PUK President expresses concerns over gun attack on Kurdish lawmaker

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani expressed his concerns over the gun attack on a Kurdish lawmaker.  

Talabani on Tuesday welcomed Faisal Karim Khan Bradosti, a member of the PUK leadership council along with Kurdish MP Karwan Gaznay, in the city of Sulaimani, his press office said.

At the onset of the meeting, Talabai denounced the gun attack against Gazany on Monday in Koya town, Erbil province.

Gazany who is a lawmaker from the PUK bloc in the Kurdistan Region Parliament announced earlier that he had been subjected to a gun attack.

“I survived an assassination attempt & my driver was wounded, waiting for the reaction of the government,” Gazany tweeted.

Talabani stated that he is “concerned” by the gun attack against Gaznay, calling to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible.

“The PUK won’t make compromises on people’s lives and dignity, including its loyal cadres. The case should take its legal pathway,” He said, according to his press office.

In the meantime, Gaznay for his part, extended his words of gratitude for Talabani’s impatience for ensuring Gaznay’s safety since the very initial of the incident.
