SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani extended his warm congratulations to the Yezidi community on the occasion of their New Year.
In an address on the eve of the Yezidis New Year, Deputy Prime Minister Talabani, extended congratulations, and said, “Despite the tragic catastrophes that they have witnessed but the Yezidis have retained their religion and Kurdish identity.”
In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Talabani also stressed that the Yezidis are an authentic component of Kurdistan.
He further stated that “Kurdistan is proud of all of its components and all of us must make efforts to strengthen the culture of coexistence which is deep-rooted in our history.”
The Yezidi community every year in April celebrates their new year which is also known as Red Wednesday or Charshmba Sor by visiting their holy site in Sinjar, the Lalish temple.
