SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Akitu Eid on Saturday said Kurdistan is proud of the peaceful coexistence between different national and religious components.
Today marks the advent of the Assyrian-Babylonian New Year 6773 and Akito Eid during which Assyrian, Chaldean, and Syriacs communities hold special celebrations.
The Deputy Prime Minister in a statement extended his warmest congratulations to the communities who celebrate Akitu across the globe, especially in Iraq and Kurdistan.
“Kurdistan is proud of the peaceful coexistence between different ethnic and religious components, and with this bright history,” he said, according to the statement.
“There is no doubt that this will remain the case in the future and the coming day.”
The official also stressed that it’s the duty of all sides in this stage to further develop the spirit of coexistence, and together make steps toward a shining future.
