Top Iraqi military delegation arrives in Erbil to meet with Kurdish counterparts

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Top Iraqi security delegation arrived in the Kurdistan Region capital Erbil on Wednesday, according to Iraq State News Agency (INA).

“High-ranking military delegation which includes Commander of the Iraqi joint operations command between Erbil and Baghdad general Hamid Abdul Maqsud arrived in Erbil, accompanied by several senior military officials as well ” INA cited a statement from the delegation as saying.

“The visit aimed to hold talks with high Peshmerga officials and discuss the security situation in the disputed areas between the Kurdistan Region government and the federal,” it said.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State in December 2017 but the militants have regrouped in what so known as the disputed area between both sides that suffers from a flagrant security gap, which is utilized by the terrorist to commit their harmful actions.
