SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani released a statement on the eve of Newroz, urging all parties to act “responsibly”.
“Kurdistan is facing threats and opportunities, and the Kurdish people have tolerated us for many years with all our shortcomings, demanding better services, economic recovery and political stability,” he said.
“In this situation, I call on all of us to act responsibly for the sake of the citizens and collectively manage the current situation,” he added.
“Let us take advantage of the opportunity with Baghdad for a final and lasting agreement, to create the conditions for clean elections at home so as to strengthen the confidence of citizens in the institutions and not disappoint our allies abroad.”
Speaking on the internal issues in the Kurdistan Region the Deputy Prime minister also added that “We extend the hand of reconciliation and we are ready for any dialogue.”
In his concluding remarks, the Kurdish officials wished happy Newroz to all fellow citizens across Kurdistan, extending his warmest congratulations on the eve.
