SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani delivered a video message to the Newroz celebrations in Kurdistan’s Amed in which he urged for unity among Kurds.
At the onset of his remarks, Talabani extended his warmest congratulations to all Kurds who celebrate Newroz across the globe.
“If God wills, all Kurds will work shoulder to shoulder this year and put aside our disputes for the interest of our people,” he said.
In the meantime, Talabani in the video message called on all neighboring countries to release all jailed Kurdish leaders and politicians.
“I call on neighboring countries to release our politicians and leaders and permit doctors, lawyers, and people to visit them.”
Moreover, Talabani renewed his condolences for the lives lost in the massive earthquake that rocked the Kurdish areas in Turkey and Syria last February.
“With the support of all of you, we will pressure all political parties to prioritize the interest of our nation,” Talabani continued. “Long live Kurds and Kurdistan. Either Kurdistan or death.”
