PUK President receives newly-appointed Russian Consul General

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President, Bafel Talabani, on Saturday, in Sulaimani, received the newly-appointed Russian Consul General in Kurdistan Region, Maxsm Rubin.

“In a meeting, President Talabani offered his congratulations to the Russian diplomat, wishing him all success,” read a statement from Talabani’s media office.

In the meantime, Talabani expressed the PUK’s readiness for any coordination and assistance to succeed in the Russian diplomat’s mission, according to the statement.

Moreover, during the meeting, the pair discussed the political situation of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, focusing on the latest developments and the PUK’s efforts for a stable and tranquil life.

“The PUK will continue on its own national path and strategy for the sake of securing a decent life and offering service to the people,” Talabani told the Russian diplomat, adding “the PUK will also undertake the concern of protecting the public and lofty interests.”
