KRG discusses earthquake safety precautions

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers discussed on Thursday earthquake safety precautions, according to a statement. 

The KRG revealed that it discussed earthquakes including other natural disasters safety precautions, it said in a statement.

Moreover, the KRG demonstrated a report on medical preparations as well as precautions during natural disasters and ways to limit the damages in the case of massive earthquakes, it added.

Last Monday, a devastating earthquake magnitude 7.9 struck south and central Turkey, affecting neighboring Syria with the death toll from the quake on both sides neared 16,000 on Thursday.

Several aftershocks have hit the Kurdistan Region following Turkey’s deadly quake where the KRG announced three days of public holiday on Monday as a safety precaution, also bringing the matter into the discussions inside the government cabinet.
