SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s Parliament committee of foreign relations on Wednesday, demanded an international investigation on allegations reports regarding the mass execution and secret burial of Iraqi refugees on the Polish border said MP.
Earlier on June 6, the Central Office of the Investigation Committee in Belarus revealed, during a meeting with an Iraqi delegation, that it had documented crimes committed by the Polish security forces against 135 Iraqi citizens on the Belarusian-Polish border in 2021.
“Belarusian investigators recorded criminal actions against 135 citizens of the Republic of Iraq, who were physically injured as a result of the use of violence and special means against them by the Polish security forces,” according to a statement posted on the website of the Belarusian Investigative Committee.
Three cases of causing bodily harm and unlawful expulsion from European Union territory to Belarus, which led to the killing of Iraqi citizens, are also under investigation as stated by the committee.
The Commission of investigation has revealed that an Iraqi delegation visiting Minsk handed over evidence and information about the mass and secret executions of Iraqi refugees by Polish soldiers, on the Polish side of the border with Belarus, said the Committee in a joint statement with the Iraqi delegation on Wednesday.
“The Iraqi side was informed of the information that the investigation concluded with Polish soldier Czechko about mass executions and a secret burial of refugees killed by the Polish army in the border area on the Polish side of the border with the Republic of Belarus,” it said.
It was asserted that these crimes had been committed on the basis of race, nationality, nationality, and religion when the victims crossed Poland’s borders further to other countries in the European Union, according to the statement.
Member of Iraq’s Parliament foreign relations committee Muthana Amin said, we received news of polish soldiers executing Iraqi refugees, and we addressed our embassy in Poland to obtain the facts.
“If these allegation reports are correct, we will take action because this is a disgraceful crime and flagrant violation of human rights,” Muthana Said.
“We are investigating the accuracy of what was stated through official reports, we coordinate with authorities and international bodies to find out their details. Our relevant embassies in those countries playing their role in reliably investigating the validity of information as well,” spokesperson of Iraq’s ministry of foreign affairs Ahmed Al-Sahaf said in a statement received by state news agency (INA).
In November 2021 a massive number of Iraqi and Kurdish refugees stormed into Belorussia. After the country started to grant visas to Iraqi citizens.
This, resulted in the foundation of a new migration route to enter European Union countries and seek asylum. Refugees were crossing the Polish-Belarussian border illegally in order to get to their dreamland most likely Germany.
However, Thousands of desperate people, from the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, spent huge sums of money on plane tickets and paid traffickers for what they expected to be a smooth journey into Poland and Western Europe. Many have died and vanished inside frozen woodland from Belarus into Poland.
