SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A court in Kirkuk sentenced four former members of the provincial council to 15 years in prison, Iraqi media reported on Thursday.
Kirkuk appeal court also banned the four members of Kirkuk provincial council from traveling abroad, according to Iraqi media.
The four including Irfan Kirkuli, Riyadh Danuk, Parwin Mohammed and Adur Awraham were sentenced to jail in accordance with article 316 of the Iraqi penal code, a judicial source told Shafaq News.
Earlier this week, the criminal court sentenced former head of Kirkuk provincial council Rebwar Talabani to six years in prison in accordance with article 340 of the Iraqi penal code.
The court also banned Talabani from traveling and ordered to confiscate his property, according to an order issued by the court.
Kurdish officials and members of Kirkuk provincial council left the province in October 2017 when the Iraqi forces retook control of the disputed areas claimed by both Baghdad and Erbil from the Kurdish forces in the wake of Kurdistan independence referendum. Since then, security has been run by the Iraqi forces.
