University students rally in Erbil against lack of services at dorms: reporter

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Students of Erbil polytechnic university held a rally on Sunday against the lack of basic services at dorms, Esta reporter said. 

“A number of female students rallied against the lack of services in the girls’ dorms,” said the reporter.

Despite the freezing weather of the city, a female student told the reporter that “No warm water is available at the dorms.”

“We have been out of kerosene for two weeks,” She said. “No one answer our demands, therefore, we reject to vacate the rally,” she added.

Moreover, the reporter also stated that a group of university officials and dozens of party-affiliated students “attacked” reporters amid the coverage of the rally, he said.

“They attacked reporters’ mic and cameras, exercising violence against the press.”
