SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has announced the suspension of visa issuance for Iraqi citizens holding electronic passports.

The decision, which came without any explanation, was confirmed by Fly Dubai, stating that they are bound by the guidelines set forth by the Immigration and Emigration Office.

Electronic passports are equipped with a microchip that stores the personal information of the passport holder. In contrast to conventional paper passports, e-passports offer enhanced security measures and effectively mitigate the potential for identity fraud.

Iraq has recently initiated the issuance of these advanced identification documents for its citizens.
