Kurdistan Region registers 1,053 new coronavirus cases

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s coronavirus cases rose by 1,053 to 67,184 on Friday, said the ministry of health.

In a statement, the Region’s health ministry said it had registered 461 new cases in Erbil, 83 in Sulaimani, 33 in Garmian, 32 in Raparin, 425 in Duhok and 19 in Halabja.

The ministry further said 20 more patients had died from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 2,263.

As many as 400 other patients had recovered from the virus, taking the total number to 39,207, the ministry added.

The Iraqi ministry of health said it had recorded 3,785 new coronavirus infections, 48 deaths and 3,362 recoveries.

Iraq’s total number of infections reached 445,949, of which 375,188 recovered and 10,513 died, according to the health ministry.
