SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President Bafel Talabani on Monday met with Haidar al-Abadi, the head of Iraq’s Nasr Alliance, in Sulaimani.

Talabani and Abadi, former prime minister of Iraq, discussed the latest developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as well as early parliamentary elections scheduled for October 10, Talabani’s office said in a statement.

They stressed that an “appropriate environment” should be provided to hold a clean and pure election, that will lead to political stability in the country, according to the statement.

Talabani said during the meeting that all powers and abilities should be reorganized to overcome challenges and to reach solutions to issues between the Region and Iraq, the statement read.

“We want to organize the Kurdish house and have a mutual vision for the issues. We need to bring Kurdistan to the edge of stability and tranquility,” Talabani said.

“For that, we need our brothers and friends from the Shia and Sunni parties as well as all other parties to support us and to build an institutional country together and revive the spirit of forgiveness and coexistence. This is the policy that the PUK is pursuing,” he added.
