SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Three drones hit a house of a civilian near Bragh village in Erbil province early on Saturday, Kurdish authorities said.
Kurdistan Region’s Directorate General of Counter-Terrorism (CTD) said the drones hit a civilian’s house in a field on the Sewla road in Bragh village near the community of Mala Omar at 1:50 a.m. on Saturday.
Two of the drones exploded, the CTD said in a statement. The attack did not cause any casualty, but there were damages.
Another drone fell in an empty area in Tarin mountain, it added.
“Investigations are ongoing and results will be made public,” it continued.
Earlier on Saturday, Esta Media Network reporter said the sound of several explosions was heard near the Bragh village.
The village is located near the new building of the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, which is still under construction.
The U.S. consulate general in Erbil said the United States condemned the drone attack in the Kurdistan Region, adding that it was a “clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty”.
No groups have claimed responsibility for the attacks, but armed groups that some Iraqi officials say are backed by Iran have claimed similar incidents in other Iraqi provinces.
U.S. officials blame Iran-backed militias for regular rocket attacks on U.S. facilities in Iraq, including near the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
