Kurdistan’s information agency director, commander of French special forces meet

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s Protection and Information/Information Agency Director Wednesday received the commander of the French Special Forces, highlighting the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS) militants.

Director of the Kurdistan’s information agency Jalal Shiekh Naji received Commander of the French special forces colonel Buris, said a readout.

In a meeting, the two sides discussed the developments in the area and cooperation between the Kurdistan Region forces and U.S.-led Coalition forces, it said.

The pair also placed emphasis on the continuity of the intelligence, military, and security support in the fight against the ISIS remnants, considering as necessary to increase both sides’ anti-terror cooperation.

Moreover, during the meeting, the Kurdish official reiterated the importance of developing France’s relations and participation in improving the Kurdistan Region’s intelligence and security capabilities, according to the readout.

He further stated that protecting the national security of the Region is their priority, making all efforts towards reinforcing peace, and tranquility and preserving the achievements.
