Kurdistan Region suffers highest daily coronavirus infections

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region reported the highest daily increase in coronavirus cases in six months on Monday, the ministry of health said.

In a statement, the Region’s ministry of health said it had recorded 1,277 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours.

It added that 256 cases were in Erbil, 325 in Sulaimani, 606 in Duhok, 14 in Halabja, 59 in Garmian and 17 more in Raparin.

The ministry further said 14 patients had died from the virus, none of them were in Duhok. As many as 716 patients had recovered, the health ministry stated.

The Kurdistan Region has registered a total of 140,573 COVID-19 cases, including 3,890 deaths and 118,168 recoveries, according to the health ministry.
