Kurdistan Region reports highest number of new COVID-19 cases

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases since January, the ministry of health said on Tuesday.  

In a statement, the Region’s ministry of health said it had recorded 1,228 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours.

As many as 179 cases were in Erbil, 442 in Sulaimani, 477 in Duhok, 38 in Halabja, 69 in Garmian and 23 in Raparin, the health ministry added.

It further said 15 patients had died from the virus in Erbil, Sulaimani, Duhok and Garmian, while 406 others recovered.

So far, the Kurdistan Region has registered 134,656 coronavirus cases, with 3,814 deaths and 114,845 recoveries, according to the health ministry.
