SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iranian revolutionary guards killed two Kurdish brothers in Piranshahr northwest of Iran on Wednesday, according to a rights watchdog.
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said in a report on Thursday that the revolutionary guards opened fire at a vehicle carrying two Kurdish brothers on the road between Shinabad and Zeydan villages near Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan province.
The organization, which monitors human rights abuses in Iranian Kurdistan, identified the brothers as Abdulla Nadri and Osman Nadriya.
The Iranian security forces arrested parents and members of the brother’s family following their death, Hengaw said.
On Wednesday, Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence said its units had thwarted a “terrorist plot” and killed two “terrorists” in the province of West Azerbaijan.
The two were affiliated with a “terrorist group” based in the Kurdistan Region, the intelligence ministry said in a statement. The Iranian forces also seized two Kalashnikov rifles, grenades and ammunition, it added.
