SULAIMANI – (ESAT) 126 years ago، the first Kurdish newspaper was published by a prominent figure among the Badrkhanis.
On April 22، 1898، Miqdad Madhat Badrkhan، a prominent figure of the Badrkhan family، published the first Kurdish-language newspaper under the name Kurdistan newspaper in Cairo، Egypt.
The newspaper published a total of 31 issues within five years and was printed in several different places due to the opposition of the Ottomans. The publication of the newspaper was very important for the Kurdish language because، until then، Kurdish was the only spoken language.
