SULAIMANI – (ESTA) The Kurdistan Parliament passed Resolution No. 48 on June 19, 2004, designating December 17 as Kurdistan Flag Day and the day on which the Kurdistan flag is raised annually.
Kurdistan Flag Day’s history dates back to December 17, 1945, when the flag was formally raised at Chawarchra Square amid a magnificent ceremony attended by revolutionaries from all across Kurdistan as well as Peshawar Qazi Mohammed.
The Kurdistan Parliament passed a law in 1999 regarding the Kurdistan flag and its style, and it regulated its treatment by law. Following this rule, the Kurdistan Parliament published Decision No. 48 on June 19, 2004, stating that December 17 is the day on which the Kurdistan flag is raised annually.
