KRG PM says looks forward to working with Blinken to further develop U.S.-Kurdistan partnership

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said on Wednesday he looks forward to working with U.S. state secretary to further develop partnership with the Kurdistan Region.

“Congratulations @SecBlinken on your confirmation as US Secretary of State. I’m looking forward to working closely together to further develop the US strategic partnership with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and enhance regional peace and security,” Barzani said in a tweet.

The U.S. Senate on Tuesday confirmed President Joe Biden’s nominee, veteran diplomat Antony Blinken, to serve as secretary of state.

Blinken is a longtime Biden confidant who has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate before, most recently to serve as No. 2 at the State Department during former Democratic President Barack Obama’s administration, when Biden was vice president.
