Farmer killed in Penjwen after explosive object blast

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A farmer was killed in the Kurdistan Region’s Penjwen after he had found an unidentified explosive object.

The farmer was in the midst of agriculture spraying on the land that he had worked on in the Penjwen district, the northeast of Sulaimani province, near the Iranian border.

The victim was from Eastern Kurdistan, known as Rojhalat, according to Penjwen Mayor Zana Abdulrahman.

“The explosive  object which killed the farmer was shaped like an orange and it was eye-catching,” the Mayor said.

“The victim accidentally drove on the object while spraying the land. He stopped the engine to check what is beneath his tractor.”

“The object suddenly exploded and killed the farmer,” he added.
