SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister, Qubad Talabani, on Tuesday, in Erbil, met with the Turkish Consul General, Mevlut Yakut, according to a statement.
“The deputy prime minister at the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) politburo, discussed the latest political developments with the Turkish Consul General,” read a statement from the deputy prime minister’s office.
“At the start of the meeting, the deputy prime minister extended his condolences to the Turkish diplomat over the tragedy of the recent earthquake that rocked Turkey last month,” it said, adding that the pair were later discussed “The Kurdistan Region political changes and Erbil-Baghdad relations.”
“There are political problems and have had negative implications on the Kurdistan Region situation in general,” the deputy prime minister said, according to the statement.
Moreover, the deputy prime minister discussed the Kurdistan Region’s overdue election, saying, “Election should not be further delayed and there must be preparations to hold a pure election and the rights of all components must be taken into account.”
