SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed al-Sudani held a telephone call with U.S. President Joe Bide on Friday.
In a brief readout of the call, it said the two sides discussed bilateral relations and U.S.-Iraq cooperation in various fields.
It further stated that the U.S. president reaffirmed his support for a stable, safe, and sovereign Iraq, adding Biden also reaffirmed U.S. commitment to U.S.-Iraq cooperation under the Framework of the “strategic Agreement”.
During the phone calls the leaders also discussed presenting commitments of both sides to defeat the Islamic State (ISIS) militants. They agreed that the region’s stability depends on Iraq’s stability, according to the readout.
Moreover, the two officials stressed Iraq’s territory must not be used to launch attacks against Iraq’s neighbors or the Global Coalition of anti-ISIS personnel or bases which is stationed on Iraqi soil after ISIS offensives in the region.
In the meantime, the king of Jordan, Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein joined Biden-Sudani’s call, the readout said, adding the three leaders agreed to work together to promote peace in the region and sustain strong brotherly relations.
