SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Head of secretariat office of President Mam Jalal, Qubad Talabani received a high-ranking French delegation on Saturday in Erbil.
Talabani’s office in a statement said he welcomed French consul general in Erbil Olivier Decottiginies along with French senator Christian Cambon, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces.
They met at the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) headquarter in Erbil, discussing the latest developments throughout the region including Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, according to the statement.
It also said that they stressed the importance to provide national dialogue to reach a solution to the issues.
“The meeting stressed that the parties must adopt national dialogue, and formulates a governing reformist policy for the sake of the country’s interest,” it said.
In that framework, the recent Iranian attacks on the Kurdistan Region were elaborated as well, and Talabani demanded France play role in protecting the Kurdistan Region’s stability through diplomatic approaches.
The delegation commended Talabani’s efforts for making progress in governing system and reforms in all administrative bodies of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). They also reiterated their support for the KRG.
